More Dick

Seems Dick Cheney's Texas hunting license lacked the $7 bird stamp on it that enables people to legally hunt quail in the state.
He immediately sent them a check for $7. No fines were levied against Dick for shooting a man instead of one of the farm-raised, no-winged quails he was hunting.
Also, it seems Cheney and his hunting buddies were seeking their farm-raised game from a car. Not a Jeep, not a truck, not even an SUV... a car.
The victim, attorney and GOP wheel-greaser Harry Whittington was shot in the face with a shotgun.
The right-wing media is using phrases like, "peppered with birdshot," but make no mistake about it- a shotgun discharged at close-enough range will put a hole in a victim the size of a grapefruit.
I wonder if Supreme Court Puppet Anton Scolio plans to go duck hunting with Dick again?
I hope so.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on Monday night put the entire episode into perfect perspective. Basically, the incident was so outrageous it was almost too easy to make jokes about. Jay Leno and David Letterman also had a field day, and why not?
The vice president mistook a 78-year-old man, standing upright in a Day-Glo orange hat and vest for a tiny bird on the ground and shot him in the face.
What a dick.

well, he didn't shoot a bird, so the lack of a bird stamp isn't an issue...

The real issue here is that a minor story that should have been an ordinary police blotter entry has become yet again an example of how the Bush administration would prefer to cover up stories than report them to the American public.
It makes one wonder what they have been successful at hiding?
I'll bet that information would be staggering.

I'm unfamiliar with Texas law in these matters, but if anyone other than a "Dick Cheney" had done this, what do you suppose would have happened initially? I suppose the fact that this happened on private property may have had some impact but I really don't understand why special treatment is being given this bastard after he almost killed a man. If you saw the dismal report on The News Hour by "RayRay" (whatever his name is) when he interviewed the reporter who first reported the story, he never asked the obvious followup question when the reporter told him Mr. Whittington was doing fine. That question would be: "There's been reports that Mr. Whittington has been in intensive care since the incident. Will he be released soon?" (Or, something to that effect...)

I used to watch The News Hour diligently, but sometime in the recent past, the show "jumped the shark" and I can't view it at all anymore for more than a couple of moments at a time.

Thanks for the link, Holly.
It doesn't surprise me that the old guy Cheney shot had some birdshot penetrate his heart.
People are really out there pretending that birdshot isn't just a shell full of lil' BB's.
Let's not forget that a shotgun is a powerful weapon, packed with powerful ammunition.
Cheney shot-gunned a guy in the face and chest because he was careless.
Blaming the old victim is weak.

If they don't have wings, then it all makes sense.

I was wondering how Mr. Whittington got into the air where Dick could aim at him, but know I know. He was on the ground along with the quail.

Bottom line: Cheney shot an old man in the head, face and chest with a shotgun.
Looks to me like it's time for Dick to hang up his weapons and stay away from hunting.
He's lost his edge and become a menace to the "sport."

lame...the way the media put it, Dick was supposed to be some avid hunter guy...but as the stories unfolded, he's really only been at it for a little over a decade. shit, I'VE got more time behind the trigger of a scattergun than he does, and I haven't hunted in over a decade...

what a yutz.

In a related thought...Dick said that the moment he saw his 'friend' go down, it was the 'worst day of his life.' If that's the case, DICK, EVERY day a soldier dies in Iraq and Afghanistan should be the worst day of your life, you coward...

P.S...Karen, hve your media outlets down in the Great State Of Texas been running commercials put out by the Progress For America Voter Fund commercials depicting soldiers and parents of dead kids claiming that the soldiers in Iraq 'Overwhelmingly' support this war? They've been running here in MN for a couple of weeks now...

Doggo- no, I haven't seen that ad.
The latest I've heard about the troops is that the DoD is now accepting the disabled, the imbecilic and the criminally inclined into the Army.
Be... all that you can...BLAM!

hmm...interesting...wonder if they're putting this info out on TV in the 'blue' states for some reason...

So far as I know, the PFAVF is the same group that brought us the "Swift Boat" propaganda that made a mockery of the service jacket of a REAL war hero...

IMO any soldier worth his salt would be against a coward's war...
