It's Just Blogging.
Man, I hate it when good bloggers start to take themselves too seriously and end up thinking they are Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite or other members of the media glitteratti.
Recently, a very popular gay left-wing political blogger caught hell from a good portion of his readers by posting a photo of himself at a political gala standing next to one of the GOP's most loathsome female members.
He said it was "campy," then got defensive when challenged about saying, "what a nice person she was."
All politicians are nice to people in public. That's part of the game. As a former MSM reporter, I've met and interviewed my share of politicians, and they've all been very charming on the surface. Big deal.
Many of us come into close proximity with famous people just by leaving our homes and going to ordinary events like political rallies, good restaurants or parties.
If I met George W. Bush, however, I would not smile and pose for a photo with him as if I cared about being seen with him.
I would not do a grip n' grin photo with any GOP politician, any more than I'd pose with Ted Nugent, Osama bin Laden, O.J. Simpson or Fred Phelps of the "God Hates Fags" ministry.
And if I did sacrifice my political principles and make breezy chitchat with a neo-con political celebrity at an event, I sure as hell wouldn't blog about it.

Bwa ha ha!
Campy is posing with David Cassidy.
Is he banning people for THAT?
Trish, that WAS a good one.
As for the rest of it, I posted a fairly polite complaint when I first read the comments, but I agree with larkohio when she said we can choose not to read or comment on that blog any further.
Besides, I don't think he cares much for lesbians unless they are famous and look straight.
In fairness, I too can be arrogant and pompous to loonies who crash my comments box with insults or haughty bufoonery.
But if I ever posted something that drew criticism from more than a few of my regular readers, you can bet your boots I'd consider their words carefully, then show a little humility.
Anyway, I've been blogging for nearly five years now and I've seen bigger blogs than his peter out because of ego & arrogance.
Lark, this was the comment that got me banned:
Just saying, a blogger who gets his knickers in a twist over comments he allows on his own blog should perhaps do what the conservatives he deplores do: moderate the comments, allowing only the fluffers to comment.
To post his own crude comment, using the tone he chose and to diss commenters, although not a regularity, suggests an underlying problem that perhaps a therapist could help with. Most bloggers regularly get "offensive" comments, but they fume offline and get over it and don't come on, post a rediculous comment like his and embarrass themselves.
NOTE FROM JOHN: No DINO, it means I don't tolerate fools and I have the nerve to stand up to assholes. It's a trademark of AMERICAblog. Don't like, leave. Seriously. I don't want people like you here.

I left one comment after that one accusing him of using "The Washington Post" treatment. I was using the name "DINO" because I think that's what John really is. Anyway, I'm over it all now and will quit clogging Karen's comments sections ranting about John.
Oh please, clog away, Penny.
He said he, "has the nerve to stand up to assholes"?
I saw a picture of him with his arm around Katherine Harris, and he says he stands up to assholes?
He said it's a trademark of AMERICAblog?
I thought their trademarks were posting excerpts from other people's blogs, begging for money, bragging about traveling & TV appearances and posting faggy orchid photos.
Looks to me like the boy jumped the shark right after he outed Jeff Gannon Guckert.
That was so last year.
Too bad, I like his buddies who blog with him. I wish they'd start their own blog and leave Fluffer to his little fanclub.
Not just people, friendly regulars who have been reading his blog since he was just a sprout.
He cannot tolerate dissention from his troops. Kind of like Dubya, only in velvet Gucci slippers with his initials monogrammed in gold on the top.
I think bigsis hit the nail on the head..
so..this dipshit has shot himself in the foot? lol..good.
LOL! The comment Nazi is at it again:
Oh David, if it weren't for censorhip the comments you enjoy so much would be one big yelling fest of trolls and assholes. You have no idea what it takes to make the comments work, rather than have them become one big yelling fest that end up scaring everyone else off. And yes, Emerson is gone. After the other day, I'm no longer putting up with the personal attacks. Those folks can visit another blog.

Wow. That quote above shows how dainty his ego has become, and he got even worse in subsequent comments.
I went over and read the comments on John's peculiar rant against Rep. Mc Kinney and I am astounded at how shrill and bitchy John's being to his regular readers.
It's one thing to bitchslap trolls and Republican hecklers who comment on blogs, but John is being a total asshole to people who've been around since his blog began.
I hope he has a backup plan to earn chardonnay and hors d'oeuvre money, because at this rate his little PayPal racket won't last long.
First he poses in a starfucker shot with Katherine Harris and now's he's doing everything but calling Rep. McKinney a crack whore N-word.
I think the boy's having a public meltdown.
Must be all that traveling he's doing with the money people have been donating to his vanity blog.
I feel sorry for his rational associates on that blog. How embarrassed they must be.
He is buying into his own hype apparently..I was bored and bedridden friday so I also took a gander at his site..jesus christ in a thong..the man has an ego the size of canada..and those pics..he has turned into a chunky monkey hasn't he? Must be all that rich food in Europe his readers are paying for..I loved the post where one of his boot lickers said"John shouldn't have to pay out of his own pocket to go to these functions"..my jaw bounced off the mattress.
I've seen a lot of Blogs start to get lots of hits and some media buzz, then the owner lets it go to his or her head and starts getting greedy- for attention, for accolades, for money...they never seem to get enough.
The greed I can handle but the arrogance and imperious attitudes are obnoxious.
Johnny Meltdown is starting to act like Evita: "I wear these furs and jewels for you, my people!"
He acts like he's been appearing before the House and Senate and compelling them to turn things around.
Frankly, we don't need an elitist French poodle parading around with the DC party crowd and thinking he's anything more than a token gay curiosity among those jaded politicos.
And I could give a fuck about anyone's Blogger Hook-ups in Amsterdam or San Francisco.
What's next, selling locks of his hair and autographs to his adoring fans? Yeecch.
Just because he's a queen doesn't make him royalty.
Can I use that last line above this comment:P
The more pressure you put on yourself by taking money for blogging, the more you feel the need to blog about everything. Call it self-aggrandisement, the quest for new content, whatever... to me it all comes down to people who understand this is a hobby and people more interested in Making Money Fast.
Well said, Elayne.
