Big Brother Is Already Watching Us

You think Bush wanting our Google records is too much?
I just got a sobering weblink. Just tap in your name and state and be amazed, if not chagrined:

The only good I see coming from sites like this is that it really puts the kibosh on Blog hecklers and online stalkers.
Mine seem to be all gone ever since I let them know I know where they live.
:D

It's scary -- as my address is not listed in the phone book, or online on the OC property appraiser's site. Yet, there it was on zabasearch. Fuckity fuck.

My number is listed in the White Pages but my address has not been listed for the last 25 years.
Until now, that is.
And please note, there's no provision on that site to remove one's personal data.
But on the bright side, now I can send my pal Clyde all sorts of fan mail by post.
:)

Well, that site didn't really help me locate the f*cker that just tried to transfer $6,400 from my PayPal account.

Our current phone number is listed, but Zaba doesn't show it, and it has three different addresses for me, only one of which is correct (one is from 2 years ago and the other is from at least 7 years ago). It doesn't seem that much different from other address look-up tools I use at work (Yahoo people finder and so forth) - error-prone and contradictory.

Elayne,
More to the point is these search directories that list phone numbers and home addresses that people thought were unlisted.
Even with a few bad addresses on file, it wouldn't take a determined stalker long to use the process of elimination and find someone he or she shouldn't have access to.

That's pretty scary ... it has every place I've ever lived except for where I grew up and my current address (but been here less than 18 months). Better: I found my nasty Uncle N Ju's current address in Ellay, so I can torture him as much as I want. Also, found an ex who didn't turn up on ANY other search engine. Ah, what fun.

I found several people who don't turn up on traditional search engines.
Some of them I know have deliberately tried to stay under the radar, including some prosecuting attorneys who do not want to be tracked by criminals they've convicted.
It's a very dangerous practice that at the very least should have a convenient opt-out option.
I hope someone sues the hell out of the owners.
