Lou Dubose: The Pimping of the Presidency
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2005/010606Z.shtml
Jack Abramoff was so closely tied to the Bush administration that he could, and did, charge two of his clients $25,000 for a White House lunch date and a meeting with the president. From the same two clients he took to the White House in May 2001, Abramoff also obtained $2.5 million in contributions for a non-profit foundation he and his wife operated.

I find it amazing that the tribes paid this yahoo that kind of money for something as intangible as his lobbving and PR services. It will always boggle my mind.
His lobbying worked though.
In a state the size of Texas, surrounded by casino states, guess who are the only group allowed to run casinos in Texas?
Hint: they are only on Indian reservations...
that is so blatant..but things seem to be ready for a change..they are all scared now..all members of capitol hill and the lobbying community.
I just can't believe the Indians fell for the White Man's forked tongue again.
Do they never learn?
I bet there was some smoke coming out of a few tribal council elder's ears after they heard the very uncomplimentary names the White Men were calling them when discussing their tribes in private, these same proud original keepers of this land that they themselves refer to as:
The People
As someone with Choctaw ancestry, I just wish that after the federal government is through prosecuting these thugs, they'd be turned over to the Civilized Tribes for additional prosecution.
(I apologize if this comment appears more than once. I had trouble with blogger.)
Civilized tribes, my ass- send them to the old-school Comanches, where they lay them face up in the hot sun, rip off their eyelids and let the red ants rumble on their faces.
