Arlen Specter (D-PA)

Welcome aboard, dude.
And thanks for joining Senator Al Franken to give the Senate those 60 votes they needed to kick the Party of No's ass.
Next to jump on the bandwagon?

Remember, he is a "moderate" and most likely a Blue Dog..but he is in the fold now..and hopefully it will help a lot.

Now, we need to get Franken in..fucking Normie will take it all the way to SCOTUS.

Oh, I know he might be a blue dog but let's face it, he's gotta go along with most of Obama's stuff just so he can get reelected as a D.

Mitch McConnell, the wobbly chinned wimp from the GOP side of the aisle said, "This is not a national story, it's a Pennsylvania story."
Yeah? That must be why it's all over the national news, non-stop.
HAHAHA!

Let's don't forget that he voted to take away haebus corpus and to support Bush for 8 years. But still I'm glad he's a Democrat now. But I bet within weeks Lieberman becomes a full fledged Republican.

i think old arlen has a progressive in him waiting to break free. will he be perfect? hell, no! but he will be very good on issues like education and health care. he's good friends with joe biden, and no doubt joe will be whispering in arlen's ear. best of all, this makes the rethugs look really bad. mitch mcconnell could barely control the shaking of his wattle.

this also means that the rethugs lose one more token. arlen was their token jew in the senate, and now they are stuck with only eric cantor.

I'm elated. Specter will do anything to get re-elected so that means he's going to have to behave. As President Obama gains strength he's tougher and tougher on the R's so this'll give O some special ass kicking power.

Not a nat'l issue? I'd love to hear Limbaugh and his crowd choking this one down.

But Dr. Monkey makes a good point re penishead Liebermann (cough, choke, sputter), i.e., for every gain a loss, but then, when you consider republicans and democrats are basically of one mind, right brain, left brain, it's really not all that big a deal I suppose.

BigSis told me Limbaugh said Specter should take McCain and his daughter with him!

Specter was on all the news shows tonight talking about how he wouldn't be the Democrats' automatic 60th vote.
Oh yeah?
He will if he wants to be endorsed in the next primary by Obama and the rest of them.

Yay Specter.....

but Dr M ~ I'm pretty sure LIEberman crossed over to the GOP side when he took to the podium @ the GOP convention, trying to be the pitchman for McLame
& Drill Baby Palin.
Safe to say, that ship has sailed....

I still believe Anita Hill. I'm still pissed at you on that one, Arlen S.

I think Olympia Snow will be next.

In 1986 I sat next to Spector on a dais during an event I was invited to speak at.

It is hard to imagine 29 year old me with anything to say to this crowd, but I did.

He was delightful and what struck me was that he had listened to my talk as well as listened to our conversation.

I have always remembered that about him, it makes me respect him.

And my long lost friend Jess calls it - Olympia will be next!

Jess called it.

William Blake would have spelled it Spectre and he may well be the same thing but he's our spectre now.
