Bye Teddy.

I cried a little when I heard the news on the way to work. Huge loss for his family and all of us. I just wish he could have seen health care reform before he left this earth.

I cried too.

He became a giant, his life probably did not work out as he might have planned, but then why should it have?

He was remarkable and one less of a kind of politician we need so very badly today.

I'm not sure a healthy and thriving Teddy Kennedy would have made much difference in today's health care reform wars in the Senate.
Today's Republicans are so partisan and so obviously in the pockets of big business and religious fanatics on the right, even a giant like Sen. Kennedy would have had trouble getting through to them.
When I heard a few pundits say perhaps the GOP members in office might start to back meaningful health care reform as a tribute to Teddy Kennedy, I had to laugh.
The era of colleagues in the Senate to honor those in the other party, dead or alive, is over.

I think Teddy was very instrumental in distracting Obama from his obsession with pleasing the R's long enough to get him to focus on health care reform. He may have even have been as good as LBJ at twisting arms.

This has been bugging me all evening.
Earlier, I deleted an anonymous sociopath's comment about Teddy's Kennedy's brain tumor and how we should use his head as a pinata to pop it out.
Last week when conservative pundit Robert Novak died, I considered posting something distasteful, but I thought better of it because of how it would make me look.
For the anonymous commenter, how do you think it makes you look to say something so heartless and cruel at a time like this?
I hope you evolve before you die, and when you do die, I hope nobody--especially a total stranger- hates you so much they'd say something as horrible about you.

Ted was a giant. I've heard a great deal since his passing on his art of pursuing long term goals, session by session. He was very well prepared and very good at getting people to hammer out deals. And he kept his priorities right out there.

How I wish he were around to advise Obama. Oh, how I wish.

I think these days, Obama only listens to Blue Dogs and Republicans.
Sure seems that way, at least.
