Nutria!

One of the creepiest animals I've ever seen is the nutria, a giant, rat-like creature with huge, Cheetoh colored teeth and a long, hairless tail.
They are scavengers, like city rats, and I saw a mess of them one night in Guadalajara, Mexico under a bridge. They scared me half to death and caused me to break into a gallop and scram out of the vicinity.
Imagine the hilarity when I spied a TV ad for Dove Deep Moisture lotion with "Nutria Moisture."
Eeuwww, do you think they actually use ground-up nutria, or was their branding department too lazy and lame to Google the word nutria?
Either way, I say ix-nay on Dove's icky sounding new lotion.

They were probably hoping for a nutrition vibe.

hahahahah

Isn't branding fun?

Branding used to be a lot more comprehensive, it seems.
Now these young Madison Avenue punks just puke up ideas without doing the research needed to avoid embarrassing shit like this nutria business.
Yes, I have officially turned into someone who yells for kids to get the hell off of my lawn.

Maybe its an Asian product. They don't seem to be monitoring names as well as they used to. For example, the car named Murano. If you speak Spanish you wouldn't buy that car because it sounds like marano=pig.

when i first heard the word, nutria, i thought it was some kind of food supplement. i was shocked that it was some kind of animal. who the hell named them that?

They're horrible little critters too. Austin had a bad problem with duck weed in Lake Lady Bird so the City brought some nutria from wherever because they eat that weed. Well now they've multiplied like crazy but unfortunately they've lost their taste for duck weed and now the nutria are the bigger problem.

The photo is amazingly not Photoshopped. Their teeth really are that color.

Ha! I had the same conversation with my husband last night. Nutria Moisture? What the hell, are they turning the critters over and squeezing out their stink glands? Turns out we probably just need glasses, since it's actually called Nutrium Moisture.

I think it's cute!!! Reminds me of a smaller capibarra (sp?). I hope Dove's not grinding them up in their lotion.

Kirby: My problem is I often listen to TV without watching it. My ears heard nutria and I ran with it.
Anyhoo, nutria, nutrium, close enough. I'm pretty sure nutrium is the plural for nutria.
