Vicki Kennedy: Class Act

It was very reassuring to watch Vicki Kennedy conduct herself with such grace at Teddy's memorial and funeral.
You could tell by how her step-children reacted to her that a lot of mutual love existed. She was probably a great step-mother, which was probably not an easy thing to be with that family of competitive people.
There's some talk that she should replace Teddy in the Senate.
Why not? She's an attorney; she's as qualified as anyone in the Senate.
And we all know that she's demonstrated amazing calm under pressure.
What do you think?

I agree with you, but the talk here (MA is our next door neighbor, less than one hour away) is that she has already said no.

But maybe she will change her mind!

Even some Republican friends of Teddy want her to do it.
I like the cut of her gib and I think she and Teddy must have held similar values. Plus she has all the money she needs and she'll need to stay busy to get through the mourning period.
So that settles it.

Hells yeah.

One of my former students knew Vicki for years--she was delighted when she married Teddy (who was just getting out of a hole he'd dug for himself) and said that she was just what he needed. Apparently she's very grounded, very real.

I was thinking after this whole crescendo.... the downhill of the cancer, when Ted kind of went into seclusion, (kudos to them for keeping their lives private when needed), then this grandiose tribute & funeral, even in the midst of this huge family, she is suddenly going to feel this enormous hole in her life.

It would be hard for anyone to take Kennedy's seat in the Senate...
I'm guessing she needs many months to recover from all this.

Too early to swim with the sharks??

Oh & nonnie since you brought it up... it was strange seeing Laura B @ the funeral w her orange lipstick & goofy grin. I noticed they put then in the 2nd row & the Carters up w the Obama's.
Smart one whomever came up with that seating plan..... Carter has actually done humane things....
Old man Bush & Babbs were not in attendance.
(former sitting president). just as well, having chimpy there was uncomfortable enough.

You could see Obama really hurting at times during the funeral ceremony.

I wish she would take the job, if only for the rest of his term or until they have the election.

But since it appears she doesn't want it, far be it for me to insist.

All the ceremonies this weekend were great. I cried my ever-loving ass off during the Friday evening one and the mass in Beantown.

And I saw capt underpants snub her Friday night and damn, it pissed me the fuck off!
