I've Joined the Dark Side

Tuesday morning, my iMac was found dead. Apparently she died in her sleep, very peacefully.
Not wanting to invest the money it would cost to revive the Bondi Blue baby who gave me fairly reasonable service since 2000, I simply unplugged her, sat her on the floor and went out in search of (sigh) a PC.
Now I have a new Compaq Presario with some fancy accessories I still do not understand. It takes up more space than the compact little iMac, but the screen is a lot bigger. I sorta like it.
I have only owned Macintosh computers, since the 80's.
I feel like I have left Judaism and converted to Christianity. Oy vey.

It's not that bad-it's just tricky getting used to.

Welcome to the Dark Side, Darth Zippy. ;)

I wish you would have consulted with me before buying a Compaq... but since you've already got it, there isn't too much I can do to change your mind and switch you over to a Dell, is there?

I've used both Macs and PCs. I prefer PCs -- I can get into the operating system a lot easier. Plus, there always seems to be more software available.

Anyway, I look at it more as Wiccan than Christianity...

Comparing Microsoft (and Windows) to Christianity is like comparing an overbearing, monopolistic, controlling, manipulative, evil, "we're always right", "if you don't believe like we do, you're wrong" type of organization to....uhhhh

Wait...um...well maybe Microsoft IS a religion.

Seriously, KZ - I've been working with Windows since it was MS-DOS and if you need any help, you have my phone number!

Thanks, JimBob. I may have to start making you pies on a regular basis.

Hi Karen!

I'm blogging from the library. I have an updated post about my situation on my blog. Bottom line, I'm okay, although I can't acces my e-mail.

KZ - chocolate please...

Clyde, I'm glad you're all right.
Take care, buddy.
J.B.- chocolates, it is.

When you save an e-mail, where does it go? And when you save a Word document, where does that go?
Why can't I have little folders of stuff I saved and locate them on my desktop?
And what is all this other shit on my desktop (icons)? ANd how can I change the screen wallpaper? This orange tubular design looks like hell.
And why do my speakers fuzz once in a while? And why does the screen image sort of wiggle once in a while?
I would have bought a Dell but they don't sell them retail here. WTF is up with that?
