"I'm a Real Fancy Maverick!"

This keeps getting better.
It seems the GOP and the McCain campaign has used more than $150,000 in campaign donations to gussie up Caribou Barfie.
In keeping with their Joe the Plumber, down-home folksiness, Camp McCain has mosied on down to the Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue General Stores and bought Miss Missy enough fancy duds to pay for the health care of 15 people for a year.
No wonder she's such a hit with rural America--they think she bought that Oscar de la Renta couture suit at WalMart!
Let's Governor of Alaska, Palin makes $125,000 a year. Now can someone please explain to me how anyone can justify spending that plus another $25,000 on clothes in three months?
Are we Democrats being pissy about this?
Well, when John Edwards was paying $400 for a haircut, we sure heard a lot about that from the right-wingers. But even if Edwards got one haircut a week at $400 a pop, it would take him more than 7 years to spend $150,000 on his vanity.
I am imagining the diehard Republican blue collar worker who stretched his budget and sent the McCain campaign $100. I wonder how he'd feel knowing he bought a third of a blouse with his donation?
I make pretty decent money, but I only own two things from Nordstrom- a blouse and a vest I bought on sale. As for Neiman Marcus, a friend of mine once gave me a pair of red leather Cole Hahn driving moccasins she bought for me on sale at the Neiman Marcus Last Chance Outlet. That's it.
This is a big deal.
It shows that the GOP are all style and no substance.
It shows that they may be trying to appeal to the rural WalMart crowd, but they're doing it in glossy couture.
I can see Cindy McCain justifying the $300,000 ensemble she wore at the RNC convention--it was her money.
I can even see Old McCain sporting his $600 Ferragamo loafers--it was her money, too.
But what I can't see is someone who used to dress like this:

suddenly dressing like this:

Small town hockey mom, my ass.

Of course... it's none of business as Democrats or left-wing progressives to call attention to this incongruities. As the saying goes, "do as I say, not as I do." That's the neo-con mantra, Karen, but I'm sure you knew that.

Oh I think you misunderstand elitist...

When people she doesn't like wear expensive clothes they are elitist.

When its her, that is down home pro-America thing!

Some dimwit on Morning Joe is comparing Palin's clothing budget to that of of female TV stars on their weekly episodes.
The only trouble is, those shows make the networks money so it's worth the expense.
Palin's wardrobe expense is like putting chrome wheels and racing slicks on a tractor.

"Caribou Barfie" I was *this* close to spewing the morning java. Jeebus!

Yeah this IS big news. It's only fair in light of the hullabaloo surrounding Edwards' haircut. I find it fascinating that the wingers do shit over and over like crowing about Edwards' haircut - when it inevitably always backfires, because BOTH sides do elitist crap. However, I can't imagine any dem campaign EVER doing something this stupid. She could have really gained points by dressing out of Nordstrom Rack.

Big mistake, mirroring big egos and people who are in it for big money.

She looks somehow chicken-plucked in her little frock there. Maybe she should've ditched her glasses.

Something doesn't look right.

Sweet fucking Jesus, this shit just amazes me..seriously..

YEt the nimrods still love her..go figure.

Randal Graves said...

They love her because she's a maverick. C'mon, dusty, it takes a real against-the-grain rebel to spend 150k of Joe the Plumber's donations on fancy duds.

Oh I had to do this, it's too fun:you've been tagged.

WalMart is so pissed.

She's just stimulatin' the economy.
Besides pitbull lipstick ain't cheap.

Palin has captured my attention..... maybe I should become a REAL American too?
Or is that an UNREAL American???

I'm so confused!

The best part is how the GOP is trying to mitigate the damage by saying the clothes will be donated to charity after the election.
How humiliating it must feel to have the nation know you had to get new clothes for the job interview, but you have to give them back after you don't get the job.
Airing dirty laundry, anyone?

And Cindy McCocaine can strut her old ass in a dress and bling worth 300 K for everyone to see while her Metamucil guzzling old man is trying to call the black guy from a single mom family in Chicago an elitist. Joe Sixpack and Joe Plumber would have to get Joe 12 Pack and Joe Neurosuregon to lend them a few bucks so they wouldn't feel underdressed being seen with Moosie Gucci.

Sarah Honey, enjoy your clothes biaaaatch cause they're never gonna be seen in the Whitehouse unless Piper, Diaper and Sniper all come on another state business trip with you ! ( you know the ones you bill those saps for in Alaska ...)

i wonder if they are going to donate the baby's stuff to charity, too, after it's been soaked in infant diarrhea and puke a few times. they spent $196 at a baby store. they also spent $4,902.45 at a fancy schmancy men's clothing store. toddy isn't a candidate for anything. why is he getting gifts from the rnc? are his clothes going to charity, too?
how much of joe the plumber's $100 contribution went to put clothes on princess's and toddy's backs?

For God's sake Nonnie, how many pairs of Dockers can one guy have?
I love that they had to outfit him, too. That one JC Penney suit he had was getting shiny around the knees and elbows.
