In Your Face, POW!

Naturally, turds like Rush Limbaugh and Pat Buchanan said that Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama was only because they're both black.
Never mind that Obama and Powell are about the whitest black men in the country; Limbaugh and Buchanan don't even try to disguise their racism anymore.
Their base now, like Sarah Palin's, are white, middle aged-to-elderly disgruntled folks who'd rather back a sickly old fart and his dimwitted, sad joke of a sidekick than vote for the good of the nation.
Bush nearly ruined Powell's illustrious career and public image by forcing him to peddle bullshit to the UN General Assembly. I think Powell was partly trying to rehabilitate his credibility and bona fides by endorsing the better candidate.
Racists are being forced out in the open.
It's our duty to call them on it every time we hear them say something hateful about other races.

KZ... you think vying for a Cabinet post in a Obama administration. He'd be a natural for Sec Def or even in a second stint as Sec. State. But given how he bent over and took one for the neo-con team, I doubt the House and Senate would ever approve his nomination.

Sorry, I fucked up with my original comment.

In spite of Powell's actions, the San Antonio Express-News is endorsing McCain/Palin. Discuss.

The San Antonio Express News is a extreme right wing piece of shit that can always be counted on to endorse the wrong person.

'an extreme,' not 'a extreme'
ooops

This might earn him back some respect, but it's still not enough for me. He fucked up royally under Bush, and there's little he can do now to make me trust him ever again. I used to think he was honest and trustworthy, uncorruptible. Now I just think he's one of the many war criminals who've worked in this administration.

Why is it that I am less hard on Powell?

I don't know, I am just glad that he made the endorsement. And he doesn't need a job.

I think that Rush and Pat support John because he is white... isn't that the same thing?

Powell is an honorable man. He had to believe the information he was given. When it turned out there were no WMD he was totally humiliated and then kicked to the floor by W and Dick.
I have several relatives who work in the State Dept. as Foreign Service officers, they loved him, he was down to earth, not pretentious, talked to the common person and treated them as equals. And they are Democrats.
Like he said yesterday, he doesn't like the direction the Republican party is heading and has already headed. I think it took courage and humility for him to go on national tv and admit it. I'm admitting it too.
Rowdy (former Republican)

Unlike McCain, Powell is decent enough to show remorse for his mistakes and imperfections. McCain is going straight to hell for the way he's behaved during this campaign.

The entire US Congress bought into the lies . . . Powell just moved the talking points along with trumped up CIA pictures. I think we will all look back on the Bush years and feel different than we do now. or worse. . . probably feel worse about it.
