Nothing Like Some Easy Vacation Reading
My Bis Sis, her partner and an assortment of Texas homos and I are fixin' to go to Paris in 6 weeks or so. I've read every travel guide and expat in Paris book I can find, so now it's time to hunker down and start on a little French literature.
How bad can a book be about a French hooker that made good?
I've already read a tiny sliver of Emile Zola's work, so I reckon Nana will be good.
Okay, so I am off to my reading chair.
Wish me luck.

You are a wild woman. I had to read L'Assomoir while working toward my degree. By the time I was through with it, I was addicted to absinthe.
i took french in junior high and high school. i read madame bovary in french. i don't remember anything and would probably starve in france, because i wouldn't know how to ask for food or drink.
Nonnie, a guide to not starving in France is up, dedicated to you.
And Lisa, I wish you could come with us and translate.
YOu're brave! I just watched French subtitled movies like Amelie.
Brave? It's translated into English.
Good luck with all that, Zip.
