Is anyone besides me wondering what life must have been like for Mel Gibson's wife Robin all those years?
He reminds me of a white O.J. Simpson--angry, misogynistic, substance abusing and totally narcissistic.
Oh, how I wish I was a fan of Gibson before all this blew up so I could boycott all his movies. Alas, I didn't like him before I found out what a douchebag he is.
I think the Catholic church could score a major PR coup if they excommunicated him.

It looks to me like Hollywood has turned its back on this clown.
I hope he saved his money because he won't be making any more on movies, either in front of or behind the cameras.
i think that he might have some kind of degenerative brain disease. either that, or maybe his brain's been eaten away from alcohol or drugs. there's something definitely wrong with him. maybe it's something hereditary. his father is a complete fruitcake.
To me he seems like the typical alcoholic who has power and money.

The LAPD is looking into it based on his taped admission, where he said she "deserved to be hit."
I'd love it if they arrested and prosecuted the son of a bitch.
It would be interesting to see the catholic church try to take the moral high-ground by kicking him out. I'm not sure what grounds they'd cite though, and whether people would be able to keep a straight face?
Iain, there are plenty of grounds for kicking him out.
Knocking up a woman he's not married to, adultery, even divorce is grounds for excommunication in the Catholic church.
But then the Catholic clergy are totally chicken-shit when it comes to throwing people out, especially if they have money and power.
They have tons of loopholes like annulment that excuse even the most aggregious cases of marital infidelity, abuse, etc.
Come to think of it, Mel Gibson could be a symbol of Catholic loopholes that forgive a multitude of sins, if the price is right.
He left the Catholic Church. You know that right? He runs a branch of Church of Mel.

I do concur, KZ. He's the worst kind of boorish, cowardly arse and has surely broken some rules of the club.
It's probably not possible for me to care less about Gibson or hypocritical religion, but being banished by the Catholic church for adultery, especially now, seems a bit like being thrown out of the Nazi party for drink-driving.

Nah, I don't think Lohan would dig him at all--he's probably too much like her jacked-up daddy.
Gibson is a textbook abuser. Rage, anger... it's all the other person's fault.
He's toast-- a ticking time bomb.
He may be "sorry" now-- but only because of how it has effected his career.
I expect a tearful public apology sometime soon. Out of control hateful abuser 101 textbook behavior to a fault.

What's interesting to me is that he's gotten himself a much younger woman, and now he rails at her like the aging old fart that he is. He sounds like a victorian father...
You get yourself a younger woman who is definitely a part of her own generation (some women are freaked out by their own gen, but clearly not this one), she's going to play by its rules, not his.
Mel's been had, and it's driving him crazy. Asshole that he is.
I can only guess at the sort of father he's been.
