Cheezus Christ on a Cracker!
Christmas is Upon Us.

The best thing about this Christmas is that it signals an end to this annus horribilis.
I started the year being ripped off for more than $4,000 in salary by my disreputable ex-boss, having some so-called friends trying to avoid paying me the $5,000 they owed me, credit card companies casually toying with my accounts to screw me and favor them, becoming disillusioned with our new president, growing bored with politics, losing interest in chasing women, losing Princess Sparkle Pony's blog, having to spend more than $1,500 on demolishing my garage, developing rather chronic Achilles tendinitis, my coffee maker and mixer breaking in the same week, and finally, my kitten Baby Jake having to be euthanized.
I'm pretty damn ready for 2009 to be over.
But the good thing about the season is having a loving family and loyal friends, new clients that pay promptly and like my work, two healthy and happy kitties, down-filled pillows and high thread count sheets, well managed diabetes, the return of Princess Sparkle Pony as Peteykins, all my Christmas shopping done and a strong, albeit dampened spirit.
My wish for all of you: a blessed Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan and a ring-a-ding-dong Festivus.
To my best online bloggy friends Evan, Fran, Dusty, Nonnie, Mary and Katie--I love you mutts.
My advice: love those who love you and avoid those who don't. Steer clear of drama. Cultivate a love for your own company and cherish the solitude. Read more. Eat deliciously. Blog more. Comment more. Laugh more. Love more.

Happy Holidays to all.

Zip I'm with you on the 2009 thing. I think we all wanted desperately to believe that the government and businesses were going to change and start giving a damn about us and that the wars would end. Hope I'll be less naive in 2010.

Can't believe I forgot the wars. Hate 'em. Didn't vote for a guy who seems not to hate them.
President Pussy H. Panderbear has really been one of 2009's biggest disappointments.

Ms. KZ ~ I always enjoy swinging by & seeing what "Pulpy" has to say. Your blog is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get- but it's *always something*.
You are a talented writer who serves up timely comments on both political & personal stuff.

I'd like to join you in bidding Good Riddance to 2009. I have a long list of things gone wrong... one of the few holiday traditions I still do, is writing an annual letter. I recapped the year as it happened, and closed the letter saying I am sure I breached some kind of annual letter etiquette, by mentioning all the perils of the year, but that is how it played out.

A fine ending to this perfectly crappy year-- my college kid- now home sick with a kick ass flu. Think surgical mask, truckloads of kleenex & doctor & prescription bills.
(He seems to be turning the corner, if only the drenching night sweats will stop & the nose will stop running- day 8 of this bug).

Ices the cake!

Can we fast forward to midnight on the 31st??

Anyway-- thank you for your bloggy friendship & quick wit.
Cheers to a better year.

Well, gees, count your blessings! Ya know.... there are middle-aged hippy drunks in Wisconsin who have to go to bed with FOAM pillows and thread-bare sheets!

i ♥ you, too, zippy!

does that little baby jesus have jaundice? he looks rather yellow. does that olive on the end of his sword indicate that he's been imbibing too many martinis and screwed up his liver? that would explain the jaundice.

I'm with you, Zippy... my mentor, Eileen, died this year, as did my ex and friend Sheryl. Empty feeling.

In a bit of a balance, E and I got married in September, and it surprises me how moving this experience has been and is.

Here's to 2010 and whatever we can create in it.

This is totally off topic but, I hear GWBush is going to try and put on public TV a program to highlight his legacy. Is not this the guy who wanted to wipe Public Broadcasting off the air buy reducing funding to 0 by 2011?
