They Did It!
The United States Congress has passed the health care reform bill!
To all the Democrats who risked their careers and withstood the lies and propaganda on this historically meaningful bill, congratulations.
To all the Republican, Joe Lieberman and blue dog Democrats who worked so hard to ruin this bill, fuck you! Choke on it!
Yay Obama!
Yay Speaker Pelosi!
Yay Democrats!
Yay millions of uninsured Americans who can now have hope for a healthier tomorrow.

It's not over yet.
Agreed, but we can still savor the victory until we have to cringe awaiting the Senate vote.
What a grueling process that was..... I was listening on he computer, live & soon found myself hitting the mute button every other speaker!
I hope Letterman puts together a photo montage of every effing repug who said the phrase "government takeover", along with a counter.
I swear I heard it 100 times in just a few hours.
But this kind of crap really makes me mad... especially when they have the gall to try to sell the status quo as "freedom" and then are not even adult enough to let other Congress members speak.
Which made the Yes vote all the more sweet.

Under normal circumstances I'm not a fan of the state of Louisiana but some of the citizens in that state are my heroes for electing Joseph Cao, the lone Republican from La. who had the balls to vote on behalf of his constituents who are in dire need of health care, among many other needs. The Repubes were on him like a dirty shirt to make sure he stayed with them on the NO campaign but Cao stood up to them. They probably have a contract out on him after his YES vote, but I'm ready to send money if that's what it takes to keep this guy in office.
i'm with dusty. some of the hyperbowl about abortion made me sick. there were some remarks about bishops being pleased with the vote. wtf? are we now the catholic states of america? are these people running for office in order to enact the pope's agenda? screw the people who are wringing their hankies over muslims being in congress. i worry more about the fundies of the christian persuasion.
I can see how tinkering with the abortion issue might really piss some people off.
As an American citizen who's not even allowed to marry, I can relate to discrimination.
