Obama's No Idiot

Many people say Hillary Clinton's dogged performance in the Democratic primaries prepared President Obama for the general election; if he could get past her he could get past anyone.
When the dust settled and she climbed aboard Obama's campaign, she relentlessly spoke on his behalf and effectively neutralized the token woman on the other side of the race.
Having determined just how worthy an opponent and valuable an ally she can be, isn't she the kind of intelligent, tenacious person who'd do well as his Secretary of State?
I think so.
I believe that Obama truly is No Drama Obama.
He even suggested the rift with Democratic turncoat Joe Lieberman be healed.
I've studied the photos of Obama standing beside Hillary as she stumped for him and I saw many gestures of affection between them. I think they admire one another.
Try as they might, critics of Hillary and Bill have failed to diminish their value to the party and the nation.
I believe Hillary would make a fine Secretary of State.
How do you feel about it?

i think it's a great idea. not only does she know most of the world leaders already, but i think it would finally put the rift in the democratic party in the past. a lot of people were pissed when he didn't pick her as veep. this will make up for it, and it will reap rewards in 2010 and 2012. the party will be even more united, and we will kick what is left of the rethugs' asses.

Terrible idea. George W. Bush as Secretary of State. Then a country will balls - you know, not us -- can arrest him on war crimes charges.

Oh, sorry, daydreaming again.

I think Hillary is more suited to Attorney General, but State would also be good. Why not Defense? that would certainly shake up the old boys at the Pentagon.

I don't like it unless she can keep Bill at bay, which I doubt. That man is power hunGRAY! And he passed NAFTA and DOMA which STILL pisses me off. They are too powerful and conservative and I don't like 'em.

The only thing I do like about it is that she's a woman and we need more powerful ones in office. I just don't like that she resorted to fearmongering in her campaign, and like I said, I think Bill is scary.

[This is off-topic]

If you haven't seen the lively discussion on inforwars about the granny who had her cross stomped on at the No on Prop 8 march in California you don't know what you're missing.

Hillary could be good at State. It's important to remember that she would be carrying the policies of the Obama Administration, not her own. She's known throughout the world and has loads of contacts.

Once again, Obama shows loads of class.

I get the sense that Obama knows exactly what he's doing. Hillary has the ability to be successful in any of the roles that have been suggested.

I agree, Karen and DCup. I think she would be fine in that role. Hillary's and Obama's foreign policies are not that different, really. Yes, Obama opposed the war. But in other ways they have a lot in common in their basic philosophies.

And for all we know Obama may have a post in mind to keep Bill busy too so he won't get in the way.

I think that she would be great - not just because of the ways in which Hillary and Obama are similar, but because of the ways in which they are not, as well.

She has a lot of strength around Middle East issues - although I do not always agree with her on them - and she will bring a lot of power and gravitas to the role.

She will be the "un-Condi" in it. Great choice IMO.

Well, the good news would be that Princess Sparkle Pony would have a new hairdo to keep track of.

I see two risks here. One, she could refuse it, which would mean there's a big rift in the party. Two, the vetting process has to include Bill and the countries he's been working with since he left office.

Another example of President Obama being brilliant, intuitive and damn lucky.

I have always loved Hill's politics and the fact that she's a strong feminist dame. She has done a lot for this country in terms of health care and economics.

I broke up w/her after a speech she made just a month before the election (can't remember the date/details), but the crux of it, in my opinion, was that she was pushing for her own 2012 run instead of promoting Obama.

THAT SAID, in the end, she really came through and got her voters on the Obama train.

We're back together again. I think she would make a magnificent Secy of State.

Liberman is dead to me. I have been sitting shiva for that schmuck for so long, it's not even funny. He's going to have to make a super grand gesture for me to put the crates away.

as much as did come down on her - i have changed my tune --- i think she would be great at anything she did - she is one of the smartest people out there.

that being said - i still would rather see her on the supreme court

D-Cap she doesn't want to be on the Supreme Court and wait around outnumbered until President Obama can replace some of those old fossils with reasonable people.
